Frank Schmid is an insurance executive and financial economist. He is Senior Advisor at General Reinsurance Corporation, Gen Re, where he previously served as Chief Technology Officer.

Prior to joining Gen Re, Frank was a Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis and a Senior Research Fellow at the Wharton School..

Frank has held faculty appointments at Auckland University of Technology, the University of Lüneburg, and Goethe University Frankfurt, and holds a Dr. habil. in finance from the University of Lüneburg. In 2006, he received the Hicks-Tinbergen Award of the European Economic Association, jointly with Gary Gorton.
